Mount Hooker - Third Eye Free Var.
Since my adventures in the Winds with Dave Sharratt and Taki Miyamoto this past August my traveling has been nonstop. In fact, last week I was home for two days after a Chuck Fryberger filming project at the New River Gorge stoked to be back in my own king size bed, and then the weather crapped out so I split… now I’m in Chattanooga enjoying the fruits of the area.
That said I have had some interest from other climbers regarding specifics of the free route on Mount Hooker that went up this summer. Having almost no time to edit vid or stills from this trip until the other day has left the details kinda hangin, sorry.
So here is a rough topo, some pix, and a quick video. The free route follows the Third Eye up to the big roof “the eye”, then does a funky traverse right into the dihedrals of the Boissinault/Larson, and probly checks in around V 5.12+ R…
